For most people, the honest answer is: not your job, but some of your tasks. AI rarely replaces a whole role. It takes over the tasks inside it that are routine, repeatable and already written down. The better question is which of your tasks are changing, and what that does to the value of the rest.
Why the job-level answer is useless
Two people with the same job title spend their weeks very differently. One project manager spends the week on status reports and planning. Another spends it negotiating with suppliers and solving problems between teams. A prediction about “project managers” tells neither of them anything.
Headlines work at the level of professions because that is where the big numbers are. Your career happens at the level of tasks. That is also where AI lands: on the standard analysis, the first draft, the routine report. Not on “accountant”.
The question that tells you what to do
Ask instead: which of my tasks can AI now do as well as me, for less? Which get better when I do them with AI? And which can only I do?
Those three answers are three different instructions. The first group you stop leading with. The second group is where your hours gain value. The third group is what you protect, make visible and take with you.
In our example of an accountant, 7 of 29 tasks are AI-led, 19 are Human + AI and 3 are Human-led. That is not a job disappearing. It is a job changing shape, with most of the work moving to “done together”.
What changes when you see it this way
You stop waiting for a verdict and start running your career like a business. A business does not ask whether it will survive. It takes stock of what it owns, works out what is still worth something, protects what it can carry, and sets its price while it still has leverage.
Your Career Audit does exactly that, for your own task list. It sorts your tasks into automate, augment and anchor, gives you a runway score against 2,441 occupations, and turns it into six steps. It is free, private, and your employer never sees it.
